Massey Ferguson delivered the prize tractor to the winner of Antarctica2 Expedition online competition
The Dumfries-based winner in its Antarctica2 Expedition online competition – the Clanachan family at McCheynston Farm in Auldgirth – has just been awarded a brand-new MF 5610 Antarctica2 Special Edition heavy euipment tractor of Massey Ferguson as the prize tractor. On arrival at McCheynston Farm, the MF 5610 immediately got to work in the verdant silage harvest – a stark contrast to the white, unforgiving icescape of the Antarctic.
MF 5610 is the first Massey Ferguson farm tractor generation equipped with tyres to reach the Geographic South Pole overland. With the emphasis on high performance, comfort, safety and control, the MF 5610 Antarctica2 Special Edition model is equipped with a package of unique features and exclusive design attributes which reflect the many challenges of the South Pole trek. The features package includes a superdeluxe air-suspended seat, mechanical cab suspension, six LED lights, 540/540E/1000 rpm PTO and Massey Ferguson’s high-spec off-road audio entertainment system.
“My sons and grandchildren have been really looking forward to the tractor’s arrival – they couldn’t believe it when I told them we’d won. An extra tractor on the farm is a bonus. As well as silaging, the tractor will be fully-employed at harvest time, carting grain and baling straw. In later months it will be used to spread muck and take silage to the cattle sheds” said Nancie Clanachan, who beat entrants from 33 countries to win the extra-special prize for her family.
“We’re delighted that the winner of this international competition came from our area,” adds Ian Powley Branch Manager at Carrs Billington. “We’re sure the Clanachans will have a great experience with this super tractor and the professional back-up from our team at Annan.”
